dsic (a subsidiary of csic) welcomed the return of 307k ton vlcc no. 96 (built for cmes) after a successful sea trial on 27th sept.
it is the second vessel of a new series of vlcc vessels built by dsic for cmes. dsic has summarized its experience in building the first vessel and reduced continuously the shipbuilding lead time. it stayed in the dock for 88 days and was launched ahead of the annual milestone by 14 days. the underwater period was 51 days and the sea trial was commenced ahead of the annual milestone by 38 days.
with the active cooperation of ship owners, the project team has planned scientifically and dock second division has organized carefully. as a result, it took only 87 hours from the vessels leaving the port to returning after a successful sea trial. it has set a record for the shortest sea trial period of 300k ton vlcc.
during the sea trial, dsic has combined ingeniously three inspections of main engine’s durability, vessel speed measurement and unmanned engine room. thus, it was completed within 14 hours and the sea trial period was greatly reduced.
during the sea trial, it consumed 310 ton of fuel and 68 ton of diesel, which saved about 200 ton of fuel and 140 ton of diesel compared with the first vessel. the cost has been saved by about rmb 2 million just at this aspect. thus, the energy saving effect is significant.
